Yo-yo is a toy popular around the globe but with few stores with a large selection. Luckily, there are two great shops in Tokyo – Spin Gear AKIBA and Yo-yo Store Rewind Shibuya.
Spin Gear AKIBA
Spin Gear AKIBA is the leading yo-yo shop in Akihabara with an excellent selection of different brain teasers.
It is located on the 3rd floor of AKIBA Cultures ZONE, just a three-minute walk from JR Akihabara station Electric Town Gate.
Colorful yo-yos, displayed in front of the shop, make it very easy to spot.
Aside from yo-yos, SpinGear carries educational toys, such as Rubick`s cube.
It also has an impressive selection of imported toys from around the world. Some of the more rare ones come with a detailed explanations.

This is kendama corner. It has inexpensive kendama for beginners and more high-quality ones for professionals.
Here are a bit more luxurious kendama. They are quite expensive but can be a great traditional souvenir.
There is even a space to yo-yo. Just like trying on some clothes, you can try out different yo-yo samples. Of course, you can play here with yo-yos you already bought at the store.

Yo-yo Store Rewind Shibuya
Yo-yo Store Rewind is located a bit further from Akihabara, in Shibuya ward which major commercial and business center in Tokyo.
The shop is just a 7-minute walk from Shibuya station. While you are there you can visit other popular spots in Shibuya, like the scramble crossing and SHIBUYA 109 shopping center.
