A Great Place for Cat Lovers : Cat café in Akihabara

A Neko café is a place where you can enjoy your coffee or chat with your friends surrounded by adorable cats. These cafes became popular in Japan about 10 years ago and quickly spread all around the country. Today, you can find them in many other places around the world.

There are a few neko cafes in Akihabara. They are a great place for people who want to relax in the company of cute animals. You are allowed to take photos in most of the stores so you can have a lot more fun by bringing your camera.

Where can you find a neko café?

There are many cat cafés in Akihabara. It can be fun to visit a few of them because each has a different layout and various breeds of cat.

There is a bunch of neko cafes located north from the station, along Chuodori street.

This time we went to JaLaLa located on a side street on the west side of Chuo street.

The atmosphere is much more relaxing than in cafes inside of a building. It feels more like home.

Let’s go in!

Most cafes use a time system where you have to inform the clerk how long you are planning to stay. However, the rules may vary. It is best to just follow the rules they tell you when you enter the café.

Finally, let’s go see the cats!

Here, cats welcome you. You can look at them, play with them or even take pictures. This place has a one-drink system so you can have a cup of coffee while spending time with these fun hosts.

The cats are adorable!

There are 20 cats in JaLaLa.

Here you can see small breeds like Munchkin or relatively big cats, such as Norwegian Forest cats. There are many 1-2-year-old kittens that will happily play with a dangle toy.

There are also a lot of cats which are just sitting around. They have a strange, calming effect on customers.
