Urban Development X – UDX Akihabara

If you exit through Electric Town Gate, on your left, you will see giant letters UDX. You won’t have any problems finding the place even if you have a poor sense of direction. Just get on the escalator and will reach your destination in less than a minute.

What is TDX anyway?

It is an acronym for Urban Development X, which is a huge complex with restaurants, event spaces, offices, a movie theater and parking.

In the event space, you can see many different workshops and exhibitions.

During our visit, there was a crowd of people excited to see stands offering fortune telling services and selling various jewelry.

The information center

Here is the Akihabara information center where you can get maps and tourist information.

We were surprised to see maps not only in Japanese but also in English, Chinese, Korean and Spanish language. It seems there are a lot of foreigners visiting Akihabara. If you ever decide to see what it is all about, we recommend you check out UDX first.

So many restaurants!

You will be surprised by the number of restaurants here. You will have fun checking the food floor even if you are not feeling hungry.

You can try stakes, ramen, or Asian food.

Of course, you will see a lot of Japanese cuisine restaurants, too.

How about sashimi, okonomiyaki or ox tongue? Even Japanese tourists must be pleased with the variety of Japanese foods.

There was an English menu over the counter in this tempura restaurant.

There is even more!

As mentioned at the beginning of the article, UDX is a multi-purpose building where you can do a lot more aside from getting a lunch or seeking for information about Akihabara.

As you can see, there is a pharmacy and a post office, but you can also find a clinic and police box. If you run into a problem during your trip, perhaps you can find a solution here.
